In short
LifeDrop helps people in Pakistan who need blood find compatible, available donors near the hospital. To do that we need some personal information, including your blood group and approximate location. We collect only what the service needs, we never sell it, and we don't show ads or use analytics or advertising trackers.
Other users never see your email or your health answers, and donors are listed by general area only. Phone numbers are shared only between a requester and a donor, after the requester accepts that donor's offer.
"LifeDrop", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs the LifeDrop app and lifdrop.com. "You" means anyone who uses them.
What we collect
Account
- Your full name, email address and password. We store the password only as a secure one-way hash.
- Optionally, a phone number, a profile photo and your general area (for example, a neighbourhood or city).
Donor profile, if you become a donor
- Blood group, general area and location coordinates, availability, and any pause date you set.
- Optionally, the date you last donated, your date of birth and gender.
- Your answers to the pre-screening questions asked before you offer to donate (see Health information).
- Donations you record: the date, the facility and any notes.
Blood requests you post
- Blood group, number of units, hospital, area, when it's needed, and urgency. We also store the hospital's map location, or your selected area's location if the hospital has none.
- A contact phone number, and optionally the patient's name and notes. Please share only what's needed to arrange the donation. Make sure you have permission to share another person's details.
- A history of the request's status changes.
Offers and chat
- Donor offers, including arrival estimates, messages and status, plus the chat messages exchanged on each offer.
Location
- With your permission, the app reads your device's location while you're using it. It uses this to work out your area and to suggest nearby hospitals. We don't track your location in the background. You can deny permission and choose your area by name instead.
Notifications and device
- A push notification token and your device platform (Android or iOS), so we can send you alerts.
- Your notification preferences, such as which alerts you want and how far away requests can be.
- The notifications we've sent you and whether you've read them.
Safety
- Accounts you block, and reports you make about other users or content.
Technical data
- Like most online services, our servers and our network provider process your IP address and basic request information to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To match blood requests with donors whose blood group is compatible, who are available, and who are close enough, and to send them alerts.
- To let requesters and donors coordinate through offers and chat.
- To show nearby hospitals and your area.
- To keep LifeDrop safe: enforcing blocks, reviewing reports and preventing misuse.
- To reply when you contact us.
We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles.
What other users see
- Donor listings show a first-name display label, blood group, availability, general area and, if you added it, your last donation date. They never show your email, phone number or coordinates.
- Blood requests show the blood group, units, hospital, general area, urgency, timing and map location (see Blood requests you post). Request timelines show people by first name only.
- Offers and chats are visible only to the requester and donor involved. When a requester accepts a donor's offer, the two of them can see each other's full name and phone number so they can coordinate.
- Moderators. LifeDrop's moderators can see account details, including your name and email, to review reports and requests.
- Blocked users can't find you, send you offers, or chat with you.
Anything you choose to write in notes or chat messages is visible to the people you share it with.
Health information
Before you offer to donate, the app asks a few yes/no pre-screening questions. They cover things like your age range, weight, whether you feel well, recent fever or infection, and medication or conditions a blood bank should review. We use your answers only to check whether you can send an offer through the app, or should see a blood bank first. We never show them to other users.
LifeDrop does not decide whether you can donate or whether blood is compatible. A qualified blood bank or healthcare professional makes those decisions.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from your profile in the app, which asks for your password to confirm. Deleting your account permanently removes it from our database, along with your donor profile, blood requests, offers, the chat messages you sent, donation records, notifications, devices, blocks and reports.
If you can't access the app, email us from your account's email address and we'll delete it for you.
Security
- All traffic to LifeDrop is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Sign-in tokens are random, stored on our side only as hashes, and expire after 30 days.
- On your phone, your sign-in token is kept in the device's secure storage.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll let you know.
Your choices
- View and correct your profile and donor details in the app.
- Turn your availability off or pause it, and change your notification preferences.
- Turn off location or notification permissions in your phone's settings.
- Block or report other users.
- Delete your account, or email us for a copy of your data or any other privacy request.
Age
LifeDrop is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
